Answer / hardip dodiya
The Value of NGR is depend upon the System Fault level
Calculation as per given by Designer:
Purpose : To limit the Earth fault current and Minimize the
value of fault current.
To Protect Transformer Neutral: Due to Earth fault
Heavy current flow in Earth mate where Transformer Neutral
also solid illy Earth. There are chances of current Flow
into Neutral of Transformer at that time Resistance Value
of NGR is to prevent that current into Neutral Path. and
avoiding Triping of Trafo. That the Reason Resistance Value
to NGR is depends on MAX FAULT CURRENT of ANY SYSTEM DESIGN.
Please anyone have objection For my these answer.
Please Provide your view with Reason.

NGR stands for neutral
grounding resistor.it
depends on line voltage.if
line voltage is 11kv the
correspoding resistance
value is 63.5ohms.it's comes
from 11000/1.732

ground neutral earth resistance should be below one ohm.this
used for balance the voltage
| Is This Answer Correct ? | 3 Yes | 4 No |
Answer / avdhesh
It is neutral grounding resister.
Purpose : To limit fault current during eatrh fault.
Advantage : Earth Fault current will be less hence less
damages at fault location. Example - core damage in the
motors.
Value of NGR : It will depend how much earth fault current
you want to limit. Secondly on the earth fault relay
sensetivity. Generaly 8-9 Ohm resistace is used in HT
system where HT motors are used.

Answer / ekanadam naik
gnr stads ground neutral resistance value is 3 3-5 ohms
| Is This Answer Correct ? | 4 Yes | 6 No |
Answer / patlavath ekanadam rathod
GNR IS THE GROUNDTO NEUTRAL RESISTANCE, VALVE IS THE LESS
THAN 0.5 OHMS THIS IS THE BETTER VALUE,IN IDLE CASE WE WILL
CONDSIDER AS ZERO.

Answer / brijesh
Avdhesh is right.
The value of NGR is calculated as V/I Where V=system
voltage and I=Value of fault current
