What is the difference between a Junction Box and a
Marshalling Box?
Answers were Sorted based on User's Feedback
Hi Cindy,
Junction boxes are used in domestic wirings especially when
supply is to be taken through a switch to a lamp holder or
from one room to another.
Marshalling boxes better called Marshalling Kiosks(MKs) are
used in substation switchyards and in power transformers.
For switchyard MKs they contain terminal blocks to which
control cables are connected. They may also contain mcbs
and other devices. The same is true for transformer MKs.

From the application point of view there is no difference
between junction box and marshaling box. Both are used for
termination and connection of cables between different
points. Usually, in the low voltage ubstation it is called
junction box and high voltage substation it is called
marshalling box.

Actually both of them are the same in action, they are used for termination and the difference is the load duty.
Marshaling box is used for heavy duty.

Junction box is mainly used for household wirings such as low voltage application.
Marshaling box is used for high voltage application. In substation or switchyard power, control and instrument cables are connected to marshalling box.

SWITCHYARD. IT ALSO USED IN CONTROL TERMINALS, IT ALSO USED
AS A JOINT.

beginning and junction box is in the middle, just like
between supplier and distributor.
