In auto mobile industry for any type of vehicle how can we
differentiate 2 stroke and 4 stroke engine....

Answer / karthick
i think we can differentiate with valves and ports.4 stroke
has only two valves (inlet and exhaust) but 2 stroke has
ports(three ports inlet,exhaust and transfer port).for two
stroke we will be drawing port timing diagrams and for four
stroke we will be drawing valve timing diagrams to find out
the positions of cranshaft w.r.t top and bottom dead centre

2STROKE ENGINE
1.In case of tow stroke engine their are four event 1 Suction
2.Compression 3.power 4exhaust ,this four Event are completed
in four moment of piston and one power stroke is obtain one revolution of crank shaft, hence it is called 2Stroke engine.
2 .The rate of fuel consumption is high.
3 .The life of engine is Less as compared to 4stroke because,of more wear and tear in two stroke engine.
4. Running cost is high ( i.e more consume fuel )
5. pick-up is high but efficiency is less.
6. carbon diposiation in engine is high due to fast moment of crank shaft.(i.e 1 moment)
7.Operating cost is less.
8.In case of two stroke engine noise is high .
7.Compression Ratio is high.
4 STROKE ENGINE
1 In case of 4Stroke engine their are 4 event 1.suction2.compression3.power4.exhaust this four event are completed in four moment of piston and power stroke is obtain 2 revolution of crank shaft hence it is called 4Stroke engine.
2.The rate of fuel consumption is Low
3.The life of4Stroke engine is high because of Less wear and tear.
4.Running cost is Low .(less consume fuel as compared to 2Stroke engine)
5.pick-up is Less but efficiency is high.
6.Carbon diposiation is Less because of slow moment of crank shaft (i.e 2 moment)
7.operating cost is Less
8.In case of 4Stroke engine noise are Less.
9.Compression ratio is Less.

we can differentiate 4-s and 2-s engines by the working of
them.In the 2-s engine full revolution of wheel is
completed by only two reciprocating motion of piston while
In the 4-s engine full revolution of wheel is completed by
four reciprocating motion of piston.this is the main reason
behind calling them 2-s and 4-s.

i want to add to the answer posted by Karthick... the sound
of 4 stroke engine is intermittent while the sound of 2
stroke engine is continuous by this one can easily
differentiate between the two...
