if u have to give support in 1 km long bridge, where u will give it & how many?..

Answer / ketan agrawal

WE ANALYSE THE bending moment equation & we apply the
support where required that's why bridge is balance

if u have to give support in 1 km long bridge, where u will give it & how many?..

Answer / ganesh

A BRIDGE WILL BE SUBJECTED TO VARYING LOAD, IT IS ACTUALLY A
SIMPLY SUPPORTED BEAM,FIRST HAVE TWO SUPPORTS AT THE
ENDS,AND ONE AT THE CENTRE,DONT THINK OF SAGGING ,BCOZ, THEY
HAVENT MENTIONED ABOUT THE BREAKING CONDITION .........

if u have to give support in 1 km long bridge, where u will give it & how many?..

Answer / rahul bahua

the bridge is of course a simply supported bridge..
what we can do is support the beam at the centre bcoz the maximum condition of failure will be at the centre..
it also applies symmetry..
the rest depends upon the load conditions..

if u have to give support in 1 km long bridge, where u will give it & how many?..

Answer / guest

if we will use the proper calculation of the bending moment
and where the sagging is more according to the material
before load is added.

if after putting support at the end point in the prototype

sagging takes place , a third support is added.

again, if sagging takes place two more supports are added
one one each sag points

therefore total of 5 supports.

i guess..

is it right ??

if anyone can tell me?

if u have to give support in 1 km long bridge, where u will give it & how many?..

Answer / karthick

i think first we have to support it like a simply supported
beam.then with that we have to find out the shear forces
acting along the beam.with that we can draw a shear force
diagram.from that we can calculate the maximum bending
moment.again we have to give support to that max bending
moment place

if u have to give support in 1 km long bridge, where u will give it & how many?..

Answer / nikhil bhagath

There should be a support at either end, at the centre and at the airy points. Isn't that how it should be?
Actually, a support at all the airy points would be the most ideal case.

if u have to give support in 1 km long bridge, where u will give it & how many?..

Answer / praveen

the condition is obviously of simply supported beam (we may neglect the point loads in form of vehicles for making our calculations simple)....next thing is we need to check the deflection (which will be max at centre) and shear force(we can get shear stress from calculation) and depending upon the allowable deflection n stress(shear)we will put supports one by one...it is general observation that for 1km u need around 20-25 supports...

if u have to give support in 1 km long bridge, where u will give it & how many?..

Answer / s16

it can be a cantilever beam or a simply supported beam
pb..hence, accodingly for former case..a roller support at
the other end of the cantilever will do ....for latter case
we have to check out the conditions from stress and related
bending momment diagram.

Answer / rajiv basu

we can use rollers at both ends inorder to make the bridge
get supported...
