WHAT IS A BASIC DIFFERENCE BETWEEN THYRISTOR,TRIAC AND A DIAC.AND WHAT R THERE APPLICATIONS?..

Answer / aniruddh

Thyrister is semicondoctor device convert the stable dc
to variable dc which has a three terminals
anod ,cathod,gate.
The diac is simelar to thyrister which biddirectional
without gate terminal work on both ac&dc.
the triac is known as diac with gate.

APPLICATION:-
THYRISTOR;-IT USED AT
minehauler,pressmachine,HVDCpawersupply.
In future bracking in automobile,regenrativebraking.

WHAT IS A BASIC DIFFERENCE BETWEEN THYRISTOR,TRIAC AND A DIAC.AND WHAT R THERE APPLICATIONS?..

Answer / abid mirza

Thyristor means is a 4 layer device with two terminals ,
the anode and the cathode. The main diff is the silicon
controlled rectifier.
The diac means it has two terminals A1 , A2. It conduction
occurs in a diac when the breakover voltage is reached with
either polarity across the two terminals.
The triac is like a diac with a gate terminal it's mean
three terminals. A triac can be turned on by a pulse of
gate current and does not require the breakover voltage to
initiate conduction.
