a 3 phase motor was running with delta connected, suddenly
one phase winding got burnt off, what will be the effect ?

delta connected winding, one winding burnt off means, its
open circuited. So the motor will work as open delta system
and run normaly with non uniform torque.
The max. load that can carry will be reduced to 57.7% of
full load.
If the motor is connected through a phase faliure relay,
the relay will trip the total ckt.

There are different situations in which this question can
be looked into.
Case 1.The motor is lighly loaded
In such a case the motor shall continue to run at the same
speed without any hiccup.
Case 2.The motor is supplying a rated load
In this case the motor shall draw current more than the
rated valeu and run at a slightly less speed
Case 3.The motor is heavily loaded
In this case the motor shall stop running and chances of
burning of winding is very large
Case 4.The motor is stationary
In this situation the motor shall not start at all.

a 3 phase motor was running with delta connected, suddenly
one phase winding got burnt off, this colled as asingle
phasing.in this condition motor takes large current from
suplly.& large current flow in stater winding. so large
heat produced by stater winding.then burn out motor.
