in AM amplitude can be modulated for long distance
communication which is more reliable as compared frequency
modulation.

the frequency band alloted for fm is 88 to 108 Mhz which
travels along line of sight;hence short distance.
AM s band travels by ground wave propagation hence covers
longer distance

user.. the receiever complexity should be simlper.. hence
we use AM which indeed has simpler reciever circuit.
