for testing busbar (33kv) hi-pot .whether we can apply DC r not.and what is the test volt for that..

Answer / senthil kumar

we can able to test ac or dc. thats manufactures chosen.in ac hi-pot leakage current will be more(mA).but DC hi-pot leakage current will be less. but dc voltage charge the capacitance. in ac hi-pot we are applying 2V+1X 0.8 in dc hi-pot 2V+1X1.414X 0.8.

for testing busbar (33kv) hi-pot .whether we can apply DC r not.and what is the test volt for that..

Answer / vijay

Yes, we can.
For test voltage we have to apply 80% of factory test
voltage i.e. 80% of 70 kv ac (factory test voltage) =56 kv
for 1 min.

Our Alternator nameplate specifies a power factor of 0.8. When the Alternator is on light load, the bus bar voltage rises to 11240 volts, whereas the standard value is 10500 volts. Is it ok to increase the power factor to 0.85 or 0.9. I am afraid because the power factor on the name plate is only 0.8 ?
