developer can do only public objects like reports,prompts,consolidations,custom group,filters,dashboards,scre cards.....etc.
but having knowledge on schema objects also.

Role of developer in MSTR is different in different in evry company.
Its totally in the hand of admin.
IF you are a report developer: you are allowed to used all the public object and schema object but
you can only create public objects as per the requirement.
but according to MSTR itself developer is one who create all the schema and public objects and at the end he come up with
one good report.

In my opinion , i think developer should know follow things:
i)how to create public objects(metrics,filters...ect)
ii)how to create shema objects(attributes,facts)
iii)how to trouble shoot reports/dashboards
Besides these if a candidate how to write and execute system
test case is well and good :)

And
Creating reports and dashboards using public and schema objects but he/she should have the back-end knowledge like structure of a table concepts of how data been stored and retrieved. which help to create a report with less run time.
