Circle dia on which spacing or tooth profile is established
is called as Pitch circle dia or PCD.
PCD= CP*No. of tooth.
cp= circular pitch

Pitch dia is nothing but imaginary cicle of group of
circles in a equally spaced angle or coordinate
representation for specified values.

EXAMPLE: form six circles of dia 12mm with radius of 120mm
& at an angle of 60 ° degree of each.

The centers of six circles will give the pitch circle
diameter.
