Defect Age (in Time) is the difference in time between the date a defect is detected and the current date (if the defect is still open) or the date when defect was fixed (if the defect is already fixed).
Elaboration-
• Time taken to move defect from drafted to new and time taken to retest the defects fixed by vendor
• Rejected defects are not counted.
• ‘fixed’ means that the defect is verified and closed; not just ‘completed’ by developer.

Defect age is a measure of the duration for which a defect
remains in the product or in other words the defect age is
a measure of the duration between defect detection and
defect injection. Ideally the defect age should be zero,
which means that the defect is removed as soon as it is
injected.
