Total bill-2400..2 persons won't pay..we had a hint about group is more than 2 persons and each person share rs100 of 2 that persons to make 2400. Let's go for next... 2400 is divisible by 2,3,4,6,8,10&12. 2&3 can't be So on the group consists of 4,6,8,10&12 members.
4-2=2, 2400-200=2200, 2200/2=1100.when it is 4 members batch 2 pay 1100+100..it is unbalanced equation.when it is 6 members batch 6-2=4, 2400-400=2000, 2000/4=500 it is also a unbalanced. Let's go to 8 members batch 8-2=6, 2400-600=1800, 1800/6=300.when we adding 300+100=400 so 400*8=2400 Now it is balanced.So total batch member is 8.

Answer / rak r
at first they have divided 2400 among themselves=2400/x
later 2 of them forgot their purse so those 2 persons amount should be shared by x-2 members that is what 100 is;
therefore (2400/((x)(x-2)))*2=100;
(x-8)(x+6)=0
therefore x=8
