xt=4/5x(t+40)
t=160 minutes
2 hr 40 minutes

in both cases person cover the same distance
hence
let t min time taken to cover the distance with actual speed x
hence
xt=4/5x(t+40)
=160 min
=2 hr and 40 min

given the person was late by 40mins when he walks at 4/5 of his normal speed
5*40min=200mins
he was late by 40mins so subtract it..
200-40=160mins
