Kindly don't compare the TALLY with any other ERP.
Tally becomes slow with Database size
50MB of data and Tally starts sucking
and from here all difference come in to picture.
We can say its an accounting software and does not have best
practices such as other ERP's accounts module having.
If there are more than 100 invoices then we can go for tally
where as we should.

Having been an SAP consultant many years ago, I find it insane that
all you people are comparing Tally with a real life ERP system.
Let's face, just because you integrate a few functions into a software
package, an ERP system it does not become. Tally is simply an
accounting package and that too using a very archaic DOS like GUI,
meant to be used primarily by the bookkeepers and accountants of
an organization. Unlike a real ERP system that cascades across the
entire processes of an organization, Tally is purely finance oriented
for the most part. Some of you may argue that it can tailored, etc.,
etc. for other functionality. But really, who the hell wants to, given
it's archaic interface.
Frankly, if any of the other major accounting packages in its class,
like Peachtree were customised for India, Tally would go the way of
the dodo. Compared to Peachtree or similar windows GUI systems
with result oriented dashboards, etc, Tally is overpriced for what you
get. People make a big deal out of the fact that Tally is pre-set to
use Indian tax forms, etc. Again, if a package like Peachtree had
the same capability, it would leave Tally in the dust. Frankly, it's
time that companies like Sage brought their Peachtree package in
full force to India to spur the folks at Tally to do a better job.

There is no Difference between Tally and ERP. Tally is also
and ERP Package.
Tally Can also be modified/extended or can be integrated
with any other application.
All you just need a very good consultant who can give a
proper Flow chart of the requirement. Tally can be modified
as per the need of the organisation. Then he can give that
to any of the program to write the codes for it. It is very
simple. If you are thinking that ERP is only SAP BAAN etc
you are absolutely worng.
ERP is package software solution that addresses the needs
of an organization by tightly integrating the various
functions of an organization using a process view of the
organization. It is package software and not a custom made
software for a specific firm. It understands the needs of
any organization within a specific industry segment. Many
of the processes implemented in an ERP software are core
processes such as sales order processing, Minimum order
fulfillment, shipping, invoicing, BOM processing, purchase
order processing, preparation of Balance Sheet, Profit and
Loss statement etc., that are common to all industry
segments. That is the reason why the package software
solution works so well.
Tally.ERP suits all the above very well. Please also think
of the prices when you say SAP as a program and Tally a
licensed program.
If one is ready to pay the 100 time lesser than the price
of a SAP license then Tally can be customisd 1000 times
better than what SAP has. Please note Tally is only ERP
program in India which provide all the statutory forms
incorporated in it VAT TDS service tax are few to name.
