Why cant we use IE7
I guess the Question is not complete.
And if it is regarding the Browser, It will always depends
on the Client requirement, i.e. what he is using and for
the different versions a testing need to be performed and a
new release need to be given to the Client.

I think one has to go in for compatibility testing in order
to test whether the scripts that are to be executed exchange
info correctly with other softwares,web browser in this
particular case. .....Correct me if i m wrong.

i could not undrstand this quetion..if we want execute test
script by using qtp we have to generte test script..and
then we have to modify script corresponding function...
