Main Disavantages as i think.
1. If you want to run in object update mode this is not
possible. Because share object repository is in the read
only mode in object repository Window.
If you want to update any thing you have to go in object
repository manager.

there are two main disadvantages of using shared obj rep.
they are as given below
1) while working in a team we need to wait till the other
members complete their work, as a result of which
identifying the objects itself will take more time and there
will be a time lag in the planned schedule.
Ex: As per teh test plan if we need to identify the test
objects in 2 days by using this shared obj rep it may take
more than the planned effort as each member has to wait till
the other will complete
2) Since it is a shared rep if any member deletes the object
info by mistake then there will be a problem

1.complexity increases when scripts are more
2.it is manadatory to select Shared OR in qtp before
record/scripting
3.while using Quality center it really becomes a trouble
because if any changes occur in qc then we also have to
made changes in file system
4.if size of shared OR is too large then it is also a
problem in this case we have to go for descriptive only

While scripting in a team environment everybody needs to
wait for others to complete their work, otherwise merging
an shared Object repository will give problems.

Its very simple when we are working with shared repositories
we should make sure that no scripting should be done to that
object and also what ever the applications will develop it
will store in the form of versions its called versioniing..

Hi Guys...I just started working with QTP now.The frame work they use hear is Write all the functions in function libraries and pass data using data dictionary either from data table or excel .I kind of understood evrthing but one thing I need to know is How do they recognize objects .Do they use object spy and recognize objects or record them ..Does soemone have any idea how they generally do this is such kind of framework
