A sample of milk contains 5% water. What quantity of pure milk should be added to 10 litres of milk..

Answer / bigdummy

10L * .05 = .5L water

(.5L water) = (.05)(10L total)
(.5L water) = (.02)(x L total)
x = .5L/.02 = 25L total

But we're looking for how much milk we have to add, so
25L total - 10L original = 15L pure milk

A sample of milk contains 5% water. What quantity of pure milk should be added to 10 litres of milk..

Answer / naeem ahmad

Since 95% is milk in mixture.

So 95% of 10 + X = 98% of (10 + X)

9.5 + X = 9.8 + 0.98X

So X = 15 liters

first case : in 10 lit
water content=(50/100)=.5 lit

second case

as the water content is same in both cases

=> x= 25 lit

A sample of milk contains 5% water. What quantity of pure milk should be added to 10 litres of milk..

Answer / nazeera jaffar

Initially 5% is the portion of the water in the mixture,95% is the portion of the milk in the mixture. So quantity of water(in litres) in the 10 L=0.05*10L=>0.5L. And also quantity of milk in 10 L mixture=0.95*10L=9.5L. Let X be the quantity of pure milk to be added to the mixture to make water content to 2%. Therefore, 0.5/(9.5+X)=0.2/9.8 9.8*0.5=0.2(9.5+X) 4.9=1.9+0.2X 0.2X=3.0 x=15 So 15 Liters of pure milk should be added to the mixture to reduce the water content to 2%

A sample of milk contains 5% water. What quantity of pure milk should be added to 10 litres of milk..

Answer / deepak pandit

Water content : 5% of 10 ltr.
5/100 * 10 = 0.5 ltr
Now
0.5 ltr = 5% in 10 ltr
0.5 ltr = 2% in (10+x) ltr
As water content remains same after adding pure milk. So, equating both above equations

5/100 * 10 = 2/100 * (10+x)
50 = 20 + 2x
x = 15 ltr.
