Explain the Modes of valency ?

Explain the Modes of valency ?..

Answer / guest

The tendency of atom can be satisfied in three different
ways, so there are 3 number of valency.

(i)Electrovalency:- This linkage which is set up is known as
ionic bond or Electrobond, and compounds which are formed by
these linkage, are known as electrovalent compounds or ionic
compounds.

So we can define an ionic bond as an linkage which is set up
between an electropositive element on one side and on
electronegative element on the other side

(ii)Covalency:- The linkages set up by this are covelant
linkage. There are simple double or triple bound represented
by simple, double or triple lines. The compound formed by
these linkages are known as covalent compounds

(iii)Co-ordinate valency:-The part of electron which is
shared in this is known as lone-pair. The linkage is set up
is known as co-ordinate linkage. This is represented by an
arrow sign.
