mud houses have thatched roofs.The insulating effect of the thatch prevents heat getting in very quickly (cool in summer) and heat getting out very quickly (warm in winter).
Secondly, mud houses are made up of mud, which has large pores. So the evaporation is more in mud houses. As evaporation causes cooling, mud houses feel cooler in summers.

Because thatched roof unable the heat to come inside the house so it remains cool in summers and it also unable the heat to go out quickly and it remains hot in winters.
