Aldehyde shows H–C=O stretch 2830-2695 cm-1 with shoulder paek in the region 2725 cm-1 to 2745 cm-1 depends on aliphatic or aromatic aldehyde, Where as in carboxylic acid C–O stretch in the region 1320-1210 cm-1 and O–H stretch and O–H bend in the region 3300-2500 cm-1• and 1440-1395, 950-910 cm-1 regions respectively
