why piston is cylindrical in shape..

Answer / shubhankar choudhury

cylindrical shapes are ideal
because they have better capacity to
resist internal pressure. They don't
deform under pressure when subjected
to radial forces by the fluid. Moreover,
there is no shear component while in
all other shapes you'll have a shear
force which will tend to deform the
shape.
