generally ups , transformers are rated in kva because the manufacturer donot know at what power factor these are used....................so he places kva rating and depending on power factor we calculate kw and kvar consumption of that devices...................................................

All Passive electrical equipment should be noted in kVA For
Example - Transformer, Diesel Generator, Stabilizers and UPS
etc., What is meant by passive equipment? There is no
