hplc means high performance liquid chromatography, there
are two types in hplc. normal, reverse phase.
we use only reverse phase because to reduce retention time.

in hplc we use C18,C8,C4,pheno type, cyano type columns in
hplc. carbon chain increses non polarity also increases.

C18 is more non polar than C4
