what is ATS?and its function or operation in power system
with its layout.
Answer / mvgr9900
ATS is nothing but Automatic Transfer Switch. In ATS there will be two input soures and one output. One input source will be eb source and another source will be dg source. So when ever there will be eb present the ats takes the load and it feeds to distribution. So when ever there is a eb failure the diesel generators starts and the input is fed to the ats. So the ats automatically switches to dg source and it feeds to distribution. So ats always considers eb as first source and dg as second source. So it is nothing but transfer switch.
