Why short E1 and P1 in earth test meter

There is one simple method to messure earth by using earth tester
It has 4 terminal say P1 P2 E1 & E2..
Normally E1 & P1 are short together..and make one terminal which connect with the earth pit which to be messure
And now E2 and P2 are connected with earth rod by 10-15,mtrs wire....rod is grounded already in opposite direction meter...
Turn ON meter
Push button press...
And get the earth resistance value...

change the neautral use earthing
megger test:
value 0-5ohms

there is a sperate eqipment to measure like earth(multi)
meter there is a two terminals in earth meter we have to
keep the one terminal to positive nd one terminal to
negative it shows some voltage in dc similarly in ac

help!!!! i bought a new house 2 yrs ago,ive just had 2 new lights fitted,when i boil the kettle,maybe 2 times in succession the safety light switch trips out,it dosnt do it straight away but it seems to do it when the kettle boils!!!!! sounds very odd to me

Does dry and oil transformers both require dedicated neutral, because in my project we are using 2500kv dry star delta transformer, where they say neutral not required and even it is not provided in our substation. can u let me know
