what happen when dc supply is given to the transformer
Answers were Sorted based on User's Feedback
If DC voltage is applied to the primary of a transformer the
flux produced in the transformer core, will not vary but
remain constant in magnitude therefore no emf will be
induced in the secondary winding except at the time of
switching on.Also there will be no self induced emf in the
primary winding to oppose the applied voltage and since the
resistance of the primary winding is quite low heavy current
will flow through it which may result in burning out of
primary winding

transformer will be burn.because of 2 reasons
1. obsence of self induced emf.
2.the flux is nt alternative ,bcz the flux is not very

Primary winding of transformer has very low resistance it act a indictive load on ac supply so it is easily stand . but legging current is not possible in dc supply, the primary will burn when it connected with dc supply due to small resistance. And mitual induction is not possible in dc supply so no emf will induced in secondary winding. N.B Armature resistance of dc motor is very low but it can stand due to back emf.
