In a single phase system very often three wires are provided: 1.LIVE,2.NEUTRAL,3.EARTH.In the single phase system we have to prove a return path for current otherwise no current will flow...and that is the typical job done by the neutral wire i.e. it serves as a return path...On the other hand earth is provided for the purpose of protection,whenever a fault occurs in the system huge fault current which is many times the rated current flows through the earth wire and in thus way protects the system...

my UPS suddenly goes off and all panel light also blow off.This happens even main electric supply is not interrupted.After some time it automatically starts functioning normally.Batteries are new.
