A 100 kVA , 400 v/250 kv testing transformer has 8% leakage
reactance and resistance on 100 KVA base . A cable has to be
tested at 500 kv using the above transformer as a resonant
transformer at 50 hz . if the charging current of the cable
at 500 kv is 0.4 A find the series inductance required .
Assume 2% resistance for the inductor to be used and the
connecting leads . Neglect dielectric loss of hte cable .
what will be the input voltage to the transformer ?

I have a small system with two motors that are running on 380 vac, 60 hz. These motors are expensive and I usally get them from Brazil. I am adding another motor to the system, but I want to purchase a 480 vac, 60 hz motor to use. It will be on a VFD that is rated fro 380 thru 480. Is this posible and will I have to use a larger motor and derate it?

we can stepdown the voltage from 230/12v ,and we use the voltage for various electronics components why can't we step up the voltage from 12/230v if we can shall we use the voltage for domestic single phase supply

why the Parameters : Base Voltage & Maximum Voltage can't be equal in value in a VFD (Variable Frequency Drive) ? How much the base voltage would be lower than the maximum voltage ? If 400 V is the 3 phase output of a VFD ... then what should be the base voltage ? thanks a lot
