normally spark occurring time less than that of arc time

In both case the dielectric strength of the air gets break and because of that so many ions ll come into the picture... And those ions will provide a conducting path..thats why we use to see spark or arc..... But the difference between arc and spark is totaly related to the duration for which they are occuring...spark is for short time and arc is for long time
