I am a manual test engineer working on an web application
product testing.I have worked on test mgmt
tool-testlink,defect tracking tool=bugzilla and I know
functional-selenium ide (basics.So can anyone tel me which
scripting language is extensively used in testing tools so
that i can acquire some knowledge about it in order to shift
into automation?

VB script for QTP (QTP specific VB script only)
and Java script for other testing tools

shifting to automation is a good thought. Before jumping in to tools and what's good. firstly, I would recommend to read on different articles from net on various testing topics which can keep you updated on the current market scenario on Automation space if you haven't done already. You can then decide based on the current market demands what you want to learn.
If you don't have much time and want to quickly jump into other testing areas, then I would suggest you to learn Selenium Webdriver as thats one of the demanding tool in the current market, you can get expertise in one of the languages like Java, c#, Ruby, perl etc., as it supports multiple languages.
