Hi!!!
I am Prem Prakash Gupta from Jharkhand & have been finally
recommended for appointment to the post of SAS Apprentice in
CGDA-2010.My rank is 257 & my first choice of Place of Posting
is Bihar & Jharkhand.
I have also been recommended for appointment to the post of
Preventive Officer in GOA Customs through SSC CGL-2008.
Now anyone could suggest me that what should I prefer between
these two jobs.

Myself Rabindra Nath Sethy also finally selected for the post of SAS Apprentices in CGDA. Rank 300.
Congratulations Prem!! bhaiya SAS hi join karo, promotional aspects are good in this organization. Within 5-6 years you would be getting 5400 grade pay (Group "A" pay scale). Preventive officers in customs organization will never reach this pay scale if they are putting more than 30 years of service. because, 15-16 years it would take to reach the examiners post and again 17-18 years it would take to reach Appraisers which is Gr"A" post> so if u want good promotional avenues then opt for SAS> Moreover Preventive Officers will have to stay life long in the place where they are posted in yours case GOA. u have to stay there till u retire. U can opt for deputations but at best for 3 years. then u have to return back.
I know these facts because i am working in central excise and customs, Bangalore.

Definitely some of my doubts have cleared from your reply.......but one thing I want to get cleared from you that I have heard that the Probation passing is like hard nut to crack in this job.......the departmental exam is very tough.
Also if you don't pass the probation your increment in salary is stopped and worse of the condition you would also be demoted, is it so ???

What man!!!!! u are asking silly questions?
why u are worried in passing the departmental
examinations. Aren't there people who are working in this
cadre and can't we assume that they would have passed the
departmental examinations. Why u are so worried? qualifying
these exams is not a hard nut to crack. I and also my
friends who are working with me would join this or
ganization and are pretty confident that we will qualify the
departmental exams. Moreover i have friends who are working
in CAG department and have also passed these exams. So again
i would advise u to join this organisation. U dont' know the
plight of Customs and Central Excise department.
Externally it looks beautiful but internally it is a mess.
don't get carried away by people's comments bcoz most of
them dont know the real facts. Again i will advise that if u
are not a home sick person and u can manage to stay life
long in GOA then its good. U WOULD NEVER GET TRANSFERRED TO
YOUR NATIVE PLACE IN YOUR LIFETIME. U CANT GET OUT OF GOA.

hi I AM ADITYA FROM HYDERABAD I HAVE BEEN SELECTED AS TAX ASSISTANT IN C.B.E.C through T.A 2008. Acutally recently the withheld result was released in that i got 497 rank and i didn't receive any intimation letter from SSC, Chennai. when i contacted them they said that the information posting on SSC site is sufficient, and i can wait for the orders from Delhi. Is there anybody selected in T.A 2008 exams, since the options given in the application are all customs only, no mention of Excise. So, i was wondering how they will post me in customs or excise. please revert back on this forum or my mail id is lalitaprasad77@gmail.com
