Test strategy is a document and is designed at
organizational level. The strategy may differ from
Organization to Organization. This document basically acts
like a guideline to client by which client understand the
testing process undertaken by organization. The document
contains Test Methodology, Risk Covered, Assumptions,
Resource allocation, Exit criteria and details regarding
the product/project budget.
Preparing the Strategy document is a one time activity.
Since the document is designed at organizational level
there may be least possibility of sharing the document
team. The Test Manger or higher management is responsible
for preparing/releasing and updating the document. As the
client is involved it’s required to take the approval from
there end during initial draft / pre-modifications. The
document also talks about the various conditions if incase
organization fails to deliver in time or if there are new
enhancement were proposed by client
