what is the general Classification of Generators..

basically there are two types of generator:dc generator &
ac generator

ac generator are called alternator
dc generator are:
1.seperatly exicited
2.self exicited
a.series wound
b.shunt wound
c.compound wound in this catagory again 1.long shunt
2.short shunt

We are installing a 1.6 MVA transformer at our crusher plant and the feeder of HPSEBL is 2 km away at substaion . and a VCB is installed in the substaion which is 2 km away from transformer so we need another VCB near the transformer.
