why 20logA is used as voltage gain and 10logA is used as
power gain

why 20logA is used as voltage gain and 10logA is used as power gain..

Answer / akshay bisht

For higher values of gain we seek the help of log scale..in terms of bels. But more oftenly decibel is considered to be a better unit than bel. So if simple gain is (a/b) then gain (in bels) is log(a/b) and in decibel it become 10log(a/b)as deci means 10.
Now any quantity X for which power is directly proportional to X its gain is shown as 10log(a/b).e.g. Power itself and Luminous Intensity...
On the other hand any quantity Y for which Power is proportional to square of Y,will have its gain(in decibels) like 10log(a^2/b^2)...This square term will come ahead and gain become...20log(a/b)..

why 20logA is used as voltage gain and 10logA is used as power gain..

Answer / sameena

20logA is used as voltage gain and 10logA is used as power
gain because the value of power gain is equal to the square of
voltage gain.
