According to me , basically , Two - tier refers to

Client - Server arch where as Three - tier signifies

to Web Application(i.e, based on multiple users).

vl be communicating with the server machine ....usually
developed for LAN

three tier means web application ie that vl have
Browser,,,webserver,,,, DB server and developed for Internet
Intranet Xtranet
