why pegging is required for deaerator in power plant nd why maintain the constant pressure in deae..

Answer / salil agarwal, power engineer

basically the pegging steam is used to create a scrubbing action between the steam and the feedwater, by which we can eliminate the dissolved corrosive gases mainly oxygen, co2, and ammonia which becomes corrosive at elevated temperatures.
The removal of these gases is necessary to protect the piping and associated equipments.
The gases removed are vented out of the D/A to atmosphere

why pegging is required for deaerator in power plant nd why maintain the constant pressure in deae..

Answer / alex

Pegging steam is given in a deaerator to stabilize pressure fluctuations during start up/ ramp up/down conditions. Sudden pressure drop in the deaerator due to conditions like safety valve lifting can cause steaming of water in the BFP suction line. Pegging steam line is given to prevent this condition.
