Three Methods to avoid Routing loops..
1)Split horizon: A Route learned through an interface is
never advertise back out of the same interface.
2)Poison Reverse or Route Poison:Route is marked as 16 hops
and infroms unreachable.
3)Hold Down time:Router does not accept any update for a
invalid route for the period of 180sec.

Incorrect routing information causes routing loops

Loop in Rip can be avoided by three methods
1. Split Horizon
prevents loops between adjacent routers
2.Poison Reverse
prevents larger loops by advertising as unreachable
through that interface
3. Holddown Timer
prevents incorrect information being entered into routing
tables

Loop causes because of Network Flopping.
RIP Broadcast updated Routing table every 30 sec.

Loop avoiding can done by 3 technics
Split Horizon
Poison Reverse
Hold-Down Timer
