Answer / devanesan
1.Misalignment.
2.Loseness in Bearing mountings.
3.Rotor rubbing with stationary parts like sealing fins or
oil guard.
4.water partical entering into the turbine(due to improper
warming up of turbine and pipelines.
5.back pressure increasing due to steam flow path volume
reduction(silica deposition in fix blade.)
6. unbalence of rotor.
7. obstractions in the free expanding parts of turbine and
its associated pipe lines.
etc.....

Vibrations in the turbine occure due to the some
misalignments in the mounting stage.
natural frequency should be higher than the external
excitation erequency to avoid the dangerous phenomenon resonance

yeah right..every rotor howmch ever care taken cannot be
properly placed or properly balanced..it could be minimised
by adjusting the mounting and mass distribution at a given
configuration dynamically by operating it at its maximum
speed..at its natural frequency it still vibrates high..
so the main causes of turbine vibration are
unbalancing, fluid flow instabilities & mounting problems..
fluid flow problems effect greatly the axial vibrations..

According to me the main cause of turbine vibration as
follow-
1)due to lube oil system not working proper.
2)due to disalingment of turbine rotor.
3)changing in the nature of lube oil.
4)due to some water particle on the turbine blade.

Answer / karthick
the rotor of the turbine will be made up of some material
and that material will have its own natural frequency if
the rotor of the turbine exceeds the
natural frequency then the turbine will be subjected to
vibratiion it may cause damage to turbibe
rotor
