Is it possible that in a switched network that any port of
the switch can be infected with any kind of viruses that
jamed and create more traffic in network which cause slow
network performance?

Hi... i don't think so... Hv u ever heard about that a
switch is virus infected..?? As far as my knowledge, viruses
r basically for windows or linux platform. Viruses can pass
through switch, which will not do any harm in switch IOS as
well as data pass through switch.
If we think about virus, it is nothing but a program
basically understand by OS n perform some unwanted job in
user data in PC.
In switch, if virus comes, n store in memory, though it will
not hamper switch IOS ya user data. Coz virus not getting
its own platform to take the action.
Thats all i can say.. if i m wrong, thn plzzzz let me know.
I'll be thankful to u.
Cheers

Well guys,
I know what you are saying, but recently one person
describing his problem that his lan network get busy all the
time and creating more traffic and he starts scanning every
single host on the network bt he fround nothing on host
systems, bt when he checked ports of the switch one by one
he found that one of his port is too bsy and obviously he
know what a switch can and cant, and he found that in his
network some virus is traveling throughout the network and
he block that port, and problem get solved. and recheck all
the procedure as i just above said.
I was amazed that how can be it possible? I am still
confused about this..
I am thinking where it is POD? which causing the issue.....

is that cause the problem? like some days ago I read an
article saying that Ping of Death can jam your host and also
the network too and even we can crash the machine...

Hi,
Switch is a Configuring device similar to Router .In switch
one can increase and decrease Port bandwidth by configuring
switch. On a particluar port one can configure port speed by
default it will be 100 Mbs one can decrease the port speed
on particluar port on switch. One can check their switch
configuration.

ot is the one of the fundamental for network hacking .it is
not really hacking but make the network too mich skow
in that process what the hackers do that they aggry on one
commitment that they have to slow don or hack the single
network then they make simulatinously pinging and that
cause the network brakdown
and thats true

hi
thanks for your expanation but i think that virus is not
the issue for that type of problem
the main scaus for that type problem is that for that
spefic port looping has occured and this cause the highh
trafic on that port
most probley htp is disabaled on that switch so as he
desabled that port the problem solived
so as far my knowledge is consern there is loop for that
spefic for some where in the lan network
i think this is not the virus isuue
2nd cause for that issue
it might be possible that specfic port is not working
proprely and there is high trafic jam on that particualr
port
but i think first one is the cause of the that problem

Which two steps must you take to determine the proper shored mask for your networks? (Choose two) A. determine the number of seperate networks required B. determine how many devices will require DHCP addressing C. determine the maximum number of hosts that will be on each shored D. determine the miniumum number of hosts that will be on each shored E. determine which router will be the IP default gateway for each shored

Hi Guys i hv one confusion. Need u peoples help. In EIGRP, maximum hop count is up to 255. By default only 100. Now question is - a) Suppose i hv a network consist of 115 routers & EIGRP routing protocol is configured. By default hop count is 100, so is there any manual configuration necessary for hop count ya router will automatically detect the hop count & will update the hop count accordingly..????? b) In EIGRP, Bandwidth & Delay is used to calculate metric. For this Metric weight is set to K1(Bandwidth)=1, K2(Delay)=0, K3(Reliability)=1, K4(Load)=0, K5(MTU)=0 Now i want, Bandwidth & Load is used to calculate metric. For that wat i hv to configure & wat wub the metric weights. Cud anyone explain it plzzzz..!!!!
