For test estimations we can follow the following types..
1. Size Type
2. Historical Data
Size type nothing but based on the requirement size
Historical data nothing but testers capability matrix.
Based on the past data we can prepare the estimations.
Suppose we dont have any data, then based on the experience
or based on requirement size we will prepare the
estimations.
Estimations we can change at any time. No one cant do
perfect estimations. it means there will be schedule
variance. But as early as possible we have to identify risk
and update the plans or estimations.

Test Estimation is nothing but deciding upon the timeline of
Testing activities, like Test Case Preparation, Execution,
Defect Reporting, Regression Testing, Test Report etc..
To prepare an estimation, tester should categorize the
requirements into Simple, Medium and Complex categories.
