How can CALCULAT the current carrying capacity of aluminum
and cOpper cables respective of that Sq.mm ? with
formulas ?
Answer Posted / sbb
As we know that Resistance of conductor is calculated by
R= row*l/a
where row=specific resistance of the conductor i.e
aluminium and copper(depends of material)
l=length of the conductor
a=area of cross-section of the conductor.
And as we know that the conductivity of the aluminium
conductor is <=1 (depends upon the distance of the cable
laid avg.0.8-1) and conductivity of copper is <=1.5
(depends on cable laid. avg. 1.2-1.5).
for ex.take cable length of 180 sq.mm Al. cable
if we want to know the current carryng capacity is
180*o.9=168 A approx.

For refrigerators the motor current is raised beyond its rating on both conditions when the voltage of the system is more(say 270v) than the rated voltage(220v) as well as when the voltage of system is less(say 160v) than normal voltageof 220v, why explain?
