What is fault tolerent system


Answer

It's advance version of Redundant.

Redundant: If one processor having one backup processor and
primary fils then secondary will take action and control
the process.

Fault tolerant: Here two processors available and two will
be active but one will be the master and backup will be
slave processor. Here we can avoid the switching time.

FAT: It will be conducted at System Supplier's place with
presence of EPC and End user.They will check the
functionality of Control loops and logics with use of
Simulators.Third part devices will also physically
connected to the system supplier and functionality will be
checked and corrected.

SAT: It will be conducted at End user's place.Here field to
system will be checked and corrected.

First I have explain about Loop Check. Loop check means
that we have to check the functionality of Field
Instruments to DCS/PLC.

For Valves,you have to simulate the value from DCS/PLC in
step by step(0%,25%,50%,75% and 100%).Valve actuation to be
confirmed by actuator Scale which is in the Valve.
