A simple Question from all....
If Voltage drops then its rated value what will be effect on
a Residential load? similarly if voltage rises from its
rated value then what will be effects on a load? i know if
voltage drops the equipment or device draws more current
then its rated what are other reasons ? thanks in advance
for ur time.......


Answer

All home appliances work with some range of voltages. if the dropped voltage or rised voltage falls within the range, the equipment operates normally. if the voltage crosses the range equipment operates abnormally.

what is skin effect and why is it absent in DC systems

alternating current produces alternating magnetic flux inside and around the conductor. this flux produces counter emf to oppose the change in current. this effect is more at the center of conductor. so electrons tend to flow through surface. In DC there will not be any alternating magnetic field and so no Skin effect is not observed.
