To add a root diskgroup use :

vxdg init <dgname> <diskname>= c1t0d0s0

here that root dist first take under control

by using #vxencap cmd

or

#vxdiskadm

choose here option 2

then normal disk grop add process

and check with
#vxdisk list
or

#vxdisk -o alldgs list

for list the disk groups information
