what is basic difference between impulse turbine and reaction turvine..

Answer / anjaney

in impulse turbine, jet is used to create impulse on blades
which rotates the turbine and in reaction turbine, no jet
is used pressure energy is converted into kinetic energy.

what is basic difference between impulse turbine and reaction turvine..

Answer / chandramohan

in impulse turbine fluid enter& leave with same energy ,but
in reaction turbine fluid enter with pressure energy&
leaves with kinetic energy
the name itself
indicates reaction means two different actions on it

what is basic difference between impulse turbine and reaction turvine..

Answer / ajit kumar sethi(npti,neyveli)

in impulse turbine all the pressure drops in nozzle only &
in reaction turbine pressure drops both fixed & moving
blades.

what is basic difference between impulse turbine and reaction turvine..

Answer / anil

A turbine that is driven by high velocity jets of water or
steam from a nozzle directed on to vanes or buckets
attached to a wheel. The resulting impulse (as described by
Newton's second law of motion) spins the turbine and
removes kinetic energy from the fluid flow. Before reaching
the turbine the fluid's pressure head is changed to
velocity head by accelerating the fluid through a nozzle.
This preparation of the fluid jet means that no pressure
casement is needed around an impulse turbine.AND

A type of turbine that develops torque by reacting to the
pressure or weight of a fluid; the operation of reaction
turbines is described by Newton's third law of motion
(action and reaction are equal and opposite).

what is basic difference between impulse turbine and reaction turvine..

Answer / sai kiran

in impulse turbine the rotation of the turbine is only due
to the impact of the jet from a nozzle( newtons 2 law). in
reaction turbine the profile of the blades is such that ke
is converted to pressure head. so a reaction turbine apart
from having energy from direct impact of jet it also has
energy gained wen ke is converted to pressure energy. so the
difference is due to blade profiles.........

what is basic difference between impulse turbine and reaction turvine..

Answer / salai jeyaveeran

the basic difference bw impulse and reaction turbine is in
impulse type the blade rotate in the same direction of
fluid hit the blade but in reaction it rotes on the
opposite side which means reaction of the force
