it is not fixed one it depends on what speed the motor to
run normaly and calculate the poles by the formula f=np/120
where f= frequency, n= speed, and p= no. of poles

It depends on the Speed of the Synchronous Motor,Minimum
number of Poles is 2, so maximum speed of a Synchronous
Motor in India(Where working Frequency is 50Hz)can be
3000rpm.
