wat is the criteria we use the diff. relay ?

Answer / prashant singh
the main factor to deside defferential relay is used in
transformer or motor or generator is-
1. the current ratio of primary & secondary winding.
2. the current ratio in motor o/p terminal and star
terminal of machine.
3. same as generator.
in normal machine like transformer we connect a ct
to the primary & secomdary winding. and after connecting ct
we take both side ct terminal and joint in differential
connection, in this connection the resultant current is
zero. if any foult is generate resultant is not zero. and
this is due to fault.

The differential relay is used in places where a vector
difference of current exist. Some examples are
transformers(current difference between primary and
secondary),generator(current difference between stator two
sides of a stator winding.

I need to connect a synchronous generator to the grid using automatic synchronization and two circuit breakers (one for synchronization, one for end connection to the grid), how to determinate the required diameter of the cables?
HELLO EVERYONE, I RECENTLY HAVE FOUND ONE PROBLEM, I WAS TAKING NO LOAD TRIAL OF AN HT MOTOR 920 MOTOR , 1440 RPM , 6.6 KV, WITH AUTO TRANSFORMER. AT 450 V, LOAD WAS 40 AMP AND SPEED WAS 250 RPM. BUT AS WE INCREASE VOLTAGE FROM 450 TO 480V, LOAD BECOME 41 AND SPEED REDUCED TO SOME RPM . SO WHICH PHENOMENON ACTED HERE FOR REDUCING SPEED.?? AND IS IT HAPPENING ALWAYS OR IT IS RARE? I ALSO HAVE FACED SUCH PROBLEM WITH FEW LT MOTOR ALSO.
