If v = speed on forward journey.
distance of forward journey = 7v
distance of return journey = 5(v+12) = 5v + 60
forward and return journey are equal so:
7v = 5v + 60
This means 2v = 60 and v = 30 km/hr.
The forward journey is 7*30 = 210 km.
The return journey is 5*42 = 210 km (not surprising).
Total distance traveled is 420 km.

suppose speed=x
distance travel=speed*timetaken
so distance=7x
now return time
speed=x+12
timetaken=5
distance=5(x+12)
now solving this
7x=5(x+12)
x=30
so distance is 7*30=210
ans is 210;
