Preventive maintenance ia an maintenance that is carried
out on periodical basis to avoid the machine falling under
breakdown and for better efficiency.This work is allotted
for a particular team to get the work done perfectly.But PM
comes under the Maintenance only


Maintenance is a general term or common word which refrs to
the work that are planned /un planned or whatever it may
be.It may include all type of work.

I agree with what our friend had posted . Just to add that
the preventive as the name says is a daily maintainence
carried out by the person working on the machine/the people
in the department on a daily basis. The simple concept
behind this is that by checking the machine daily and
cleaning/oiling the chances for machine breakdown would
reduce and thus help the production as well as the company.

The next step after this is productive maintainence which
goes with the data gained by following the preventive
maintainence.
