According to my knowlegde...it is better to join sbi
clerk...the pay scale at stating point is 7000+....so it is
better to previous one...and u have the departmental tests
in future....so,, join sbi..all the best....

Girish, u can join in SBI without any second thought,
salary will be more than Rs. 7000 /- nd there will be
departmental exams like JAIIB and CAIIB. There will be
more salery after completing probationary period.one more
thing after 6th pay commission implementation in central
Govt. jobs, there is every chance of increasing salary in
Public sector jobs. Think once

Currently you will be getting around Rs 4810 as a basic
salary and DA & other incentives. your total gross willbe
around Rs 8000 to Rs 10000(if you are graduate). Dont think
about salary. Join SBI, dont worry about salary.after 6th
pay commission implementation in central Govt jobs, there
is an increasing salary structure.

i am working in sbi as assistant(cash & accounts) for past
1year... dont u dare leave that state govt job of urs... sbi
is a nightmare... i was born n brought up in a semi urban
capital state & posted in a tribal disturbed area... d hr
dept of sbi is the most corrupted dept u can ever find in
this world. From the time i had joined i am hearing abt pay
revision but till now there is none. The union leaders are
more corrupted than the politicians running this country,
our asst manager jmgs1 is also planning to quit along with
many other senior staff. I have already applied for other
jobs if i get through i wil even close my sbi account. If u
hav gud friends working in sbi ask their opinion they will
tel you the truth. SBI is dying a slow death see QoQ result
it lodged 8.4% decline in profit. For reference visit google
and type sbi wage revision and sbi profit as on jan 25,2010.

yeah I do agree with the Hopeless Banker. The reason for
this is we do observe the things in the third person's view
i.e obviously society's view that always think government
job is safe and secured irrespective of job ENVIRONMENT.
ENVIRONMENT in the sense the condition in which one can work
i.e behavior of supervisory staff towards award
staff(clerks) and senior award staff towards new recruited
award staff. Ok Ok to be frank a clerk is treated as a new
servant in the bank. You have to work more than the
stipulated working hours with no monetary gains oh ah oh
.... forget about monetary gains at-least think about your
mental condition that always squeezed in between supervisory
staff and the ultimate god "CUSTOMER".

Oops If I want to state the negatives of it, it will goes on
and on. But the only positive side of it is Job Guarantee
and Pension. For that you have to mortgage your entire life
to the Bank.

The point is not about moralizing or demoralizing, the point
is your state of mind if you are a guy who is looking for a
professional career in professional ENVIRONMENT, without the
first thought(not second) abandon that unless you really
need a job due to financial or family problems that are
inevitable.

Yeah, I am also working in one of the associates of SBI as a
damn clerk by resigning a pvt job where I was getting more
salary than what I am getting now. I have only one thing to
laugh regarding my career in bank is I am posted in a metro
and for the second laugh I have to wait till my resignation.

Feel free to contact 9492038751 Now some information regarding bank clerical interview is as follows : First Bank in India is Bank of Hindustan & General Bank of India, but they are defunt now. The oldest bank that is functioning today also is State Bank of India. It was established in 1806 by then British East India Company as a private firm in Calcutta as "BANK OF CALCUTTA". Later, its name was changed as "BANK OF BENGAL". In continuation to this, other two precidency banks were established in India at Mumbai - BANK OF MUMBAI (1840), at Chennai - BANK OF MADRAS. In 1925 these three banks were merged into one and named as "IMPERIAL BANK OF INDIA" under the control of Reserve Bank of India(1935). But after Independance of India in 1955 as per SBI act 1955, it was changed as "STATE BANK OF INDIA" with independent under Government of India. In 1959, as per 1959 SBI(Subsidiary Banks) Act, Subsidiary banks were started. Today SBI and its Associate Banks have more than 16500 branches with 52 Foreign Branches. State Bank of Hyderabad has 1104 branches, State Bank of Patiala has 750 branches. Other Subsidiary Banks are State Bank of Mysore, State Bank of Travancore, State Banke of Indore, State Bank of Bikener and Jaipur. Recently in 2008 State Bank of Sourashtra was merged with SBI as a policy decision. In the current it on the process to merge SBH and SBP into SBI. According to a survey, in coming 10 years there exists only 6 national banks against 27 banks we have today. Apart from this we have 31 private and 38 foreign banks in India. Today Banking definition not confining to providing financical services, it is also extending to offering Insurance services, Selling Mutual funds, stock market operation as Depository participants. May be in coming days, Banking industry going to sell products, payment of bills of all kind, fee of all examinations with low commission/without commission in addition to the above.
